Endemic Botanical Extracts — Portfolio Questions

What are endemic botanical extracts and why does Taiwan origin matter?

Endemic botanical extracts are derived from plant species native to a specific geographic region. Hermosa Naturals® develops its ingredients from plant species native to Taiwan — grown under the island's subtropical climate, from coastal plains to high-mountain regions. Sourcing within Taiwan also shortens the supply chain: it avoids long-distance transport, import duties, extended lead times for stock, and the higher minimum order quantities that come with distant sourcing, while reducing the carbon footprint associated with shipping.

How is the Hermosa Naturals® ingredient portfolio organised?

Hermosa Naturals® organises its endemic botanical extracts into three series. Sirayash Plantix® covers botanical actives in three groups — Taiwan Native Actives, Taiwanese Indigenous Traditional Medicine (TITM), and Plant Endophytes. Makatta Simal® covers oil specialties: cold-pressed plant oils from native Taiwanese sources. HermoCos® covers ingredients for diverse applications, such as the HermoCos® P6 emulsifier. Every ingredient has its own page with specification, efficacy data, and application guidance.

What does TITM mean in the Sirayash Plantix® series?

TITM stands for Taiwanese Indigenous Traditional Medicine. It groups Sirayash Plantix® actives developed from plants traditionally valued by Taiwan's Indigenous communities — such as Maqaw mountain pepper, white magnolia, high-mountain oolong tea, red perilla, and Indigenous cinnamon leaves. The group currently includes Kapi, Banlay, Puli, Ocya, and Savong.

Can I request samples of specific ingredients rather than the full portfolio?

Yes. Single-ingredient and multi-ingredient sample sets are both available. For targeted formulation development, specify the ingredient names and your application context in your enquiry — this allows us to include the most relevant documentation and formulation notes. For broader portfolio evaluation, a set can be assembled around your primary application area — skin care, lip care, hair care, or sun care. Do the ingredients have INCI names registered internationally?

INCI names and CAS numbers are provided in each ingredient's Technical Data Sheet, available upon request. For ingredients with newly established INCI names, the registration body and approval status are noted. If you require INCI confirmation for a specific ingredient before committing to a sample request, contact service@hermosanaturals.tw with the ingredient name and we will provide the documentation directly.

Are all endemic botanical extracts in the portfolio certified?

Not all — certification is confirmed per ingredient. Every Hermosa Naturals® ingredient is developed and manufactured under internationally recognized quality and safety standards, and selected products and key botanicals are certified to standards such as COSMOS, Vegan Society, and PETA. Because certification scope varies by ingredient, we recommend confirming the specific ingredients you are evaluating; see our Certifications page for the standards we work with.
